I fear this two week Indian summer is sadly coming to an end, however the beaches of far distant countries are calling as the summer holidays get under way. This means only one thing. Crop tops.
Although this may be a scary thought for those of us who don't have Cara Delevigne like washboard stomachs, due to the gift of high waisted jeans, shorts and skirts, it not only means that crop tops can be worn by people other than models but can also be worn all year round.
After hours spent in the changing rooms of the high street shops and trawling the internet until I couldn't see properly, I have finally found my favourite crop tops and the best places to buy them from.
The Knitted Crop
I looked at websites other than Topshop but found that at the moment Tophop have the best range, but I'm sure as Autumn approaches we'll see a lot more knitted crops in stores and on their websites.
Knitted cropped jumpers are perfect with my new favourite jeans for the new season, 'Mom Jeans'
Still skinny enough to be acceptable but with a 90's edge, complete the outfit with
Jelly shoes? I think so.
Cropped Tees
A basic piece that is becoming a staple in the wardrobes of fashionistas everywhere, whether it's a block colour, stripped or spotty, cropped T-shirts are a must have all year round.
Simple and versatile, put with jeans, shorts, skirts and are perfect under dungarees, and with Topshop and River Island doing a similar range of Roll Back/Boxy crop tops at just £10 how can you resist?
Cropped Shirts
Possibly my favourite type of crop top, cropped shirts can be worn with denim shorts for a casual look or with a cute A-line skirt for an evening look.
I love the Hawaiian style of the Topshop denim crop, pair with denim cut off shorts in the summer and jeans and a biker jacket come Autumn, très chic.
Lace Crop Tops
The most elegant of the range of crop tops, lace has been seen on all the major catwalks this season, prefect for smart-casual evening wear but just as easily dressed down for a day to day look.
From looking at the crop tops that I've chosen to feature in this post it seems that Topshop and American Apparel have the best range and from experience the best quality too, however
Missguided also have a good range of very causal crop tops at lower prices.

'Long Way Down' on repeat, it is my favourite album of the moment, Tom Odell is a 22 year old singer/songwriter/piano player from West Sussex, earlier this year he was awarded the BRIT's critic choice award for his single
